October Newsletter Building Workshop

$100.00

Join me in a two-hour workshop on how to build a newsletter or expand the one you already have.

I will discuss my experience building my newsletter, From the Desk of Alicia Kennedy, over four years and using it to solidify my niche as a food and culture writer; provide examples of newsletters that do different things well; provide questions and exercises that will help you figure out how to better approach your own newsletter; and lead a question and answer section.

We will go over the options for platforms you can use to write your newsletter, how to develop a consistent posting schedule, and how your own reading behaviors can help you figure out your newsletter voice. I’ll be providing a PDF of my presentation beforehand that will include a worksheet with the essential questions to ask yourself about what you want your newsletter to achieve. This will provide you with insight as well as guardrails that will ensure you maintain consistency and inspiration.

ABOUT ME
My own general-interest culture newsletter, From the Desk of Alicia Kennedy, has grown to nearly 40,000 subscribers over four years, and is read in all 50 States and 166 countries.

In this time, I've also written the bestselling nonfiction book No Meat Required: The Cultural History & Culinary Future of Plant-Based Eating; contributed to Harper's Bazaar, Bon Appétit, The New York Times, Vox, and many more; been anthologized in Best American Food Writing 2023; and am now finishing my second book, for Hachette, to be titled On Eating: The Making and Unmaking of My Appetites. A collection of my essays titled Desde Mi Escritorio was translated by the Spanish publisher Col&Col in 2023, as well. I've taught at the graduate-level in food studies at Boston University and lectured at MIT, Bates College, Tufts University, and more.
